Zareh Maranian
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Zareh Maranian graduated from the American University of Beirut, where, his academic studies spanned the humanities with a focus on the visual arts. His graduate work was done in the Painting and Printmaking Department of the School of The Art Institute of Chicago, and in 1969 was granted the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree. In the interim, Maranian taught in various community art schools and organizations and worked as an interior and commercial graphic designer. Subsequently, his professional career as an artist intertwined with faculty positions as professor of art at universities in Mississippi and Colorado, teaching courses in painting, design and art history.
His works have been exhibited nationally and abroad and are included in many public and private collections. He has been awarded numerous grants, fellowships and prizes and included in art books and art magazines. He has participated in art forums as a panelist,
and acted as Trustee Member of "Acquisition Committee" and "Accessions and Collections Committee" at the Mississippi Museum of Art. He has curated and coordinated various professional and scholastic exhibitions at cultural and educational institutions, and served as juror for compatitive art exhibitions.
